Fiscal Year 2012–2013
1. The DFCT Secretary-General served on the drafting committee for the National Oral Health Strategic Plan B.E. 2555–2559 (2012–2016), one of three subcommittees drafting: strengthening community and network partnerships; developing oral-health service systems and management mechanisms; and the national oral-health strategic plan itself. Meetings were attended on 9–10 August 2012 and 14–15 August 2012.
2. The Secretary-General served on the Ministry of Public Health’s Dental Public Health Workforce Development Committee, which met on 29 August 2012 and 4 March 2013.
3. The Secretary-General served on the committee developing and overseeing the National Health Security Office’s dental fund, which met on 7 February 2013 to prepare the 2012–2016 development plan.
4. The Secretary-General attended the 2012 academic conference of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand, held 12–13 November 2012, which featured discussion on “the role of professional councils in accrediting curricula and teaching at higher-education institutions.” The meeting suggested that professional councils should have representation on the Commission on Higher Education (CHE) to review curriculum approvals and reduce duplication of work.
5. The DFCT Secretariat wrote to the Council of University Presidents of Thailand regarding the weighting of components used in the central admissions system for dentistry programmes for the 2014 academic year, as follows:
(1) GPAX – 20%
(2) O-NET – 30%
(3) GAT – 20%
(4) PAT 1 – 10%
(5) PAT 2 – 20%
6. The DFCT Secretariat submitted the Bachelor’s degree qualification standards for dentistry, research reports, and sample TQF Forms 2–7 to the Office of the Higher Education Commission on 28 November 2012.
7. The Secretary-General represented DFCT at a meeting of the subcommittee developing the 21st-century health-workforce education strategic plan, which had invited the Chair of DFCT to serve as a subcommittee member; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongnard Kamjai, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Chiang Mai University, in his capacity as Chair of the Subcommittee on Administration and Development, represented DFCT on this subcommittee, and the Secretary-General attended its meeting on 15 February 2013.
